Mirror mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all?
If there is one blogger who appreciates another bloggers style then she ain’t NO evil witch, if you are thinking about the fairy tale in relation with my first question. Amazingly this new Favorite Blogger of mine has opened a lot of doors to all fashion and stylish bloggers who wants to be everyones MUSE. When I was in the Philippines I always hear the word Muse being associated to a sports pageant and the title for all designers favorite model. But I was very happy that I was considered one of her muses and was featured in her inspiring blog about Beauty, Fashion and Style.
The Fashion Blogger behind the glittering word MUSE is no other than Cheryl of Oh to Be a Muse and I am happy to introduce her as an addition to my Favorite Blog Award. Get to know the person behind the MUSE.
Sweet: Can you briefly tell us about yourself?Cheryl: Well, I was actually born in Jamaica and moved to south Florida when I was just 3. My relatives live in Jamaica, North America and England. I graduated college with a journalism degree because I love to write, so it’s great that I get to write about what I love on my blog.
Sweet: How did you get into blogging?Cheryl: I originally just wanted a place I could jot down my thoughts–like an online diary. But I really got into blogging, and fashion blogging in particular, when I was planning my wedding last year. Oh yeah, I’m also married to my high school sweetheart.
Sweet: If you had to describe your blog in less than 20 words how would describe it?Cheryl: A site dedicated to inspiring the fashion, beauty and overall style in all of us; a fashion muse
Sweet: How long have you been blogging?Cheryl: I have a couple of posts from late 2009, which is when I first created the site, but I say that I’ve actually been blogging since January 2010 because that’s when I really found a voice and direction for Oh to Be a Muse.
Sweet: Is this a full time job?Cheryl: I wish! Making my site my full-time job is definitely a goal and passion, but unfortunately, for now I blog and I also have another job. But any blogger knows that maintaining a site properly really is a full-time job.
Sweet: In what category can you qualify your blog?Cheryl: My blog falls in the realm of fashion, but I’d like to believe that it’s more than just another fashion blog on the Internet. I have different segments on my site like Featured Fashionista, where I spotlight other fashion bloggers; with Makeup & Muses I try to showcase a new product or an interesting way to accessorize with makeup or skincare items; and Inspiring Style is a section all about new or unique clothing.
Sweet: How many blogs do you have?Cheryl: Just one–and that’s more than enough!
Sweet: What are some of your goals this year for your blog?Cheryl: So far, this year has been very great for my blog. I’ve been featured in a few different places–like this lovely Favorite Blog Award Feature by you, Sweet! I just want Oh to Be a Muse to continue to grow and reach a broader audience of fashion enthusiasts and bloggers alike. And I would love to finally meet some of you lovely muses in person–that would be awesome.
Sweet: Where do you find inspiration for your outfit post?Cheryl: Honestly, sometimes a great outfit just comes together for me randomly. Other times, I tend to find inspiration when I’m perusing fashion sites and blogs.
Sweet: How does your workplace look like?
Cheryl: Oh man, it’s really just an end table, a laptop and a Canon camera. I sometimes do go to the home office and use a real computer desk, but I feel more comfortable with less crap around.
Sweet: What advice would you give to new bloggers wanting to start their own blogs?Cheryl: Make sure you write about what you know and know what you love. Blogging is a lot of work, and definitely more work than people think it’s going to be when they first start. So be sure that your heart is in it.
